MANITO - Lillian G. Smith, 71, of 7600 Spring Lake Road died at 10:51 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Feb. 24, 1928, in Hinsdale to Andrew J. and Lola M. Dawson Howard, she married James E. Smith Sr. on July 27, 1949, in Pekin. He died June 13, 1997, in Pekin.

Surviving are three sons, Eugene and Jess, both of Manito, and James Jr. of Greenville; five daughters, Paula Nelson, Virginia Skaggs and Rose Weekley, all of Manito, Barb Tribbett of South Pekin and Lucinda Stieb of Washington state; one brother, Lewis Howard of Three Rivers, Texas; one sister, Vera Heiser of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

She was a member of the South Pekin Junior Women's Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 Auxiliary in Pekin.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. The Rev. Jeff Spence will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after the services.
