The Cohoes American, Tuesday evening, December 21, 1943:
Mrs. Alwilda VanDercook Bottum, widow of Hamlet E. Bottum, a well known resident of Cohoes, died last evening at her late residence, 29 Walnut Street, after a long illness. She was born in Cohoes, a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, past worthy matron of Imperial Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hayes W. Walker and Mrs. Frank W. Neary, both of this city, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Thomas McCochrane and Mrs. Richard N. Marshall of Sommerville, N. J. The funeral will be held from the residence Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Schuyler D. Jenkins, rector of St. John's Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
