Robert Harney passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2021, at the age of 73. He was born February 21, 1947 to Arthur Sr. and Genevieve (Baker) Harney in Waverly, Illinois.
He is survived by siblings Janette (Ben) Dionne, Arthur Jr. (Evelyn), Alice White, and Frank (LeaAnn).
In his youth, he loved cars and fishing.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war.
He could talk to anyone that crossed his path and genuinely cared about the people he met. He was innovative, creative, and selflessly enjoyed helping his neighbors and coworkers.
Robert married Cynthia (Cornell) in July 1971 and celebrated 49 years of marriage. He was a devoted family man and a fun loving father to Michael, Richard, Wendy (Rick), Amber, and Ryan (Kennia). Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his 8 grandchildren Samantha, Brody, Jackson, Abigail, Madeline, Kaila, Luke, and Hailey.
In his retirement, he enjoyed biking and taking care of the neighborhood birds and wildlife.
His ashes will be interred at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL.
Due to COVID-19, a graveside funeral will be held in late spring when we can gather safely.
