Clara "Jane" (O'Neil) Jones, 83, of East Hartford, beloved wife of Harold S. Jones, entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Jones was born in Plainville, the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Palmer) O'Neil, and had grown up near Lake Pocotopaug, where she loved all sports and music. She had been a member of the Burnside United Methodist Church of East Hartford for over fifty years. A kind spirit, she loved all animals, especially dogs. Her many interests included baking and sewing. She had been a professional seamstress. For many years Mrs. Jones was a Girl Scout leader. She had been employed by Union Carbide, which later became First Brands of East Hartford, until her retirement in 1992.
Along with her husband of nearly 61 years, she is survived by her children, Stanley Jones and his wife Linda of South Windsor, Linda Jones of East Hartford, Renée Simmons and her husband Ray of Bloomfield, Holly Hart-Blount and her husband Nate of Windsor, Tyler Jones and his wife Elise of Chicago, Ill., and Clark Jones and his wife Marie of South Windsor. A loving and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves her seventeen grandchildren and her eleven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the New Covenant United Methodist Church, 16 Church St., East Hartford, on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. for the Funeral Service. The interment will follow in the Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
Mrs. Jones' family will receive callers at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
