Born May 13, 1895, in Owen County, he was the son of Joel and Rebecca (Crum) Malicoat. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Leona Carter of Bowling Green, and Mary Freeman of Connersville; two sons, Donald Malicoat and Charles Malicoat, both of Spencer; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora (Pegg) Malicoat, who died in 1972; one sister, two half-brothers and two grandsons.
