Leona (Malicoat) Boler Carter, 93, of Bowling Green, passed away at Owen Valley Health Campus on October 26, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born August 3, 1920 in Greene County to Luther and Flora (Pegg) Malicoat.
On June 7, 1944 Leona married Ralph Jewel Boler of Spencer. Together they had three children. Ralph passed away on June 10, 1957. Their children are Stanley (Marsha) Boler of Muncy, Pennsylvania; Delores Boler (deceased) of Bowling Green and Gerald Boler of Spencer. In 1969, she was married to James Carter who passed away in 1974.
Leona had worked at Allison's during WWII and at Owen Valley High School Cafeteria before retiring. She was of the Baptist faith and was baptized on the Old Hickam farm. She attended Garrard Chapel Church for many years. Leona enjoyed doing needlework, gardening, cooking but her family always came first. Leona was a wonderful mother and grandma and will be sorely missed by her family as well as all those who knew and loved her.
Leona is also survived by six grandchildren, Aaron (Teresa) Boler of Paragon, Jason (Christy) Boler of Mechanicsburg, PA, Amanda (Boler) Huff Santoyo of Muncy, PA, Dustin (Brittany) Boler of Champagne, IL, Jessica Boler of Florida and Scott Boler of Michigan; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander and Lillian Huff, Daniela and Joseph Santoyo of Muncy, PA, Alyssa, Marissa and Payton Boler of Paragon, Payton and Chase Boler of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents, husbands, daughter, a granddaughter, two great-grandsons and siblings, Donald Malicoat, Charlie Malicoat and Mary Freeman.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Pastor Alan Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice of Terre Haute.
