Gertrude Stockbridge was born in March 1875 in New York State, possibly in Orange County. She was the daughter of Elisha and Mary Height Stockbridge.

Her mother may have died on May 26, 1908, in Central Valley, New York. Her father died on October 3, 1916 in Woodbury, New York.

Gertrude H. Stockbridge and George S. Weygant were married on June 12, 1895, in Central Valley, New York. They had two sons: Theodore Stockbridge Weygant and John Stockbridge Weygant.

At an unknown date before 1930, Gertrude and George Weygant probably were divorced. It may have been circa 1927, when she was known to have moved from Central Valley to Florida. George S. Weygant died on October 3, 1935, in Woodbury, New York. No memorial has been found on Find a Grave for him.

In the 1930 Federal census, Alexander R Nininger, age 49, and Gertrude Nininger, age 48, were living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Living with them were John S Weygank(SIC); Pauline Nininger, age 18, and Alexander R Nininger, age 11.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Nininger Dies At 91

Mrs. Gertrude S. Nininger, 222 SE Tenth St., died Friday in Broward General Hospital at the age of 91. She was the step-mother of Sandy Nininger, local Congressional Medal of Honor winner and West Point graduate, who was killed in the Philippines during World War II.

Mrs. Nininger came here in 1927 from Central Valley, N.Y. She is survived by two sons, Theodore and John Weygant, both of Ft. Lauderdale, a sister, eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fairchild W Broward Funeral Home. Cremation will follow at Lauderdale Memorial Gardens.
