Later participated in Sherman's Atlanta Campaign and March to the Sea. Mustered out at Washington, DC, June 12, 1865 (Distinguished Service). Arrived at Jefferson County, NE in July 1869 by ox team to take up a homestead. Children were: Jesse J., Annes Augusta (Hill) (Prentice), George Henry, Theodore Seymore, David Abijah, Emma E. (Prentice), Frederick Elinas, Caroline A., Lulu N., and Elwin A. Theodore likely died in 1893. There is a receipt dated July 1893 for his Civil War veteran's gravestone.
