Mrs. Sarah Evans Harden was born in Burkeley Co., Virginia, Feb. 14, 1824; died at the home of her daughters, Mrs. George Corbett, in Princeville, Jan. 28, 1907, at 4:30 p.m., aged 82 years, 11 months and 15 days.
She came to Illinois with her mother’s family in 1852, her father having died in Virginia. She was married to Mr. Richard Harden of Princeville vicinity, October 31, 1855, to which union were born three children, two of whom are living, Mrs. George Corbett and Mr. R.A. Harden, both of Princeville. Her step-son, John Harden, lives in Worthington, Minnesota. Mr. Harden died in 1886. There are also two grandchildren, Howard and Maud Corbett, and several step-grandchildren.
Only one of her own family is living, a brother, Alexander Evans of Canon City, Colorado.
In 1862, she united with the Methodist church in Princeville, of which church she remained a consistent and loyal member until her death. The funeral services were held in the Princeville Methodist church, Thursday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Nelson J. Brown, assisted by Mr. J.F. Bliss.
