Last Rites For Miss DeBord Are Held March 30.
Harriet DeBord, a resident of Princeville for many years and daughter of one of Prineville's pioneer families, passed away in the Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria March 28, 1951. She had been ill for several months and confined to her bed since falling and breaking her hip in August of last year.
She was born March 29. 1866 on the farm northwest of Princeville, a daughter of Reuben R. and Julia Hall BeBord. She was one of eleven brothers and sisters, only one of whom Fred DeBord of Maitland Mo., survives her. She spent her early years on the farm and in Princeville, for many years caring for her invalid mother. She operated a millinery shop in Princeville for several years moving to Manito for a few years and finally located her shop in Peoria where she was in business for about ten years.
Miss DeBord was of a quiet and kind disposition, always cheerful and friendly, beloved by her family and her friends. She was a member of the Methodist church of Princeville. She spent her last years in the Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria, where she passed away. She leaves many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and innumerable friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were held at the Bouton Memorial home Friday afternoon March30 and internment was in the Princeville cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frank DeBord, Charles DeBord, Richard DeBord, Bill Blair, William Gelling and Ralph Gelling.
