Funeral services for Mr. Harold “George” Rachal will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverend Anthony Joy officiating. Interment will follow in Rachal Cemetery, Marco, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Mr. Rachal, 84, of Alexandria, went to meet the Lord, our Savior, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, surrounded by family in his home.

He was a retired firefighter of thirty-plus years with Alexandria Fire Department. He served in the United States Marine Corps for three years and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1736 of Alexandria. He loved hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time surrounded by family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, O’delia McWright; stepdad, A.E. McWright and one brother, Billy Charles “Tootsie” Rachal.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-two years, Mary Ann Dubroc Rachal; five children, Malcolm Rachal and his wife, Kim, of Alexandria, Pamela Matamoros, of Bossier City, Patricia Rachal, of Alexandria, Kenneth Rachal and his wife, Jennifer, of Alexandria and Richard Rachal and his wife, Heather, of Alexandria; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Joann Patin, of Port Allen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Thursday, January 7, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers honored to serve are: Garland Herandez, Stan Hernandez, Jimmy Lachney, Tommy Lachney, James Stewart and David Rachal. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Rachal, Freddie Cardino, Alex Rachal and Ethan Rachal.

The family would like to express special thanks to Cabrini Hospice for their excellent care given during this time of need.
