She had worked at the HIbbing General Hospital for over 20 years as the executive housekeeper. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, and the Business and Professional Women. She served as a piano accompanist for various community events including the Pacemakers, a local senior citizens group.
Bernice is survived by her sons: Walter Carlson, Bernard and Terry (Valerie); brother: Vincent (Emma) Auger; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter 'Toby' Carlson in 1968; brothers: Howard, Ed and Lawrence Auger; and sisters: Cora Bunker, Nellie Matthews, Mae Wherland, and Gertie Pogue.
