Brown Blissett Pickett, Bulah "Grandma" Age 83, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours Thursday, January 24, 2013. Bulah was born on April 11, 1929 in Rome, Mississippi to the late Leon and Lizzie Brown. Bulah attended school in Charleston, Mississippi. In 1955, she married the late Willie C. Blissett and relocated to Gary, Indiana. Bulah accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C under the late founder and Pastor Elder Chester E. Simmons. In the days of her failing health, she yet supported her church under her new pastor, Elder Ernest Durr. Bulah was employed at Kralis Brothers Poultry Company; she was head chef at the Holiday Inn in Lansing, Illinois, before retiring from U.S. Steel as the head chef for the supervisors department. As you can see, Bulah loved to cook; cooking was her passion. She also loved children- hers and everyone else's, too. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger, and her personality would light up any room. She was preceded in death by her parents; 10 siblings and a loving daughter, Lizzie Lee Evans Ekeh. She leaves to cherish her memory 1 sister, Osie Echols; 1 brother, Osborn Mosby; 11 loving children, Dorothy Barber Creal, Etta (Johnny) Barber, Shirley Brown, Willie C. (Mary) Blissett, Marvin (Janice) Blissett, Odessa (Willie) Williams, Jessie (Marietta) Blissett, Deborah Blissett, Diane Wilson, David (Cassandra) Blissett, Kimberly Blissett and 1 son-in-law, Frances Ekeh; 101+ grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
