Virginia A. “Jeannie” Stapley, 79, Carey, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:35 pm on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Blanchard Valley Hospital from an injury she sustained from a fall.

Born July 22, 1941 in Tiffin, she was the daughter of Ralph Richard and Iva Adeline (Turner) Peters. She married Ronald A. Stapley, Sr. on March 18, 1960 in Fostoria. He survives in Carey. Ronald stated that their 60 years of marriage they shared were the best years of his life and his love for her was endless.

Surviving are six children: Ronald (Kimberly) Stapley, Jr. of Forest, Steve (Connie) Stapley of Alvada, Faith (Ken) Saul of North Port, FL, Kevin (Anne) Stapley of Findlay, Heather Stapley of Vanlue and Jonathon Stapley of Findlay. Her 10 grandchildren Andrew, Stephanie (Scott), Brandon, Codie, Autum, Zackarie, Austin, Sarah, Whitney and Brandon; three great grandchildren: Paige, Payslee and Carter, were the love of her life and she loved them all unconditionally. She is also survived by a sister, Esther (Duane) Reynolds of Fostoria and a brother, Don Peters of Tucson, AZ.

Preceding her in death were her parents and five brothers: James, Robert, Howard, Gerald (infant), and Gaylord Peters; and a sister, Mary Sopher.

Virginia was a foster parent to many children through the years. The love she had for children showed as a devoted, mom, grandma, and babysitter. She was also a homemaker and a member of Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene near Carey.

She enjoyed putting puzzles together, creating latch hook rugs and flower gardening. She always looked forward to sitting outside on the swing with her husband, Ron, listening to the birds, watching traffic go by and the entertainment across the road, all while her dog, Heidi, by her side.

Virginia’s greatest joy in life was having family over for dinner and the holidays. She loved cooking and baking for them. Family time was precious to her and she cherished every moment.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Blanchard Valley Hospital for the exceptional care they gave to Jeannie. Thank you!

Friends will be received 6-8 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. The funeral service will be private at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, with Pastor Mandi Downs officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey.

Jeannie loved children so much, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to the Findlay Kiwanis Closet Project (provides new clothes to children in local elementary schools) or Wyandot County CASA and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316.
