Hockey player. He was the goalie for the Massachusetts Rangers who while representing the United States won the gold medal at the 1933 World Ice Hockey Championship, the United States first win at this event. He later played for the New York Rovers of the Eastern League and the Wembley Lions of England. He ended his goalie career as a practice goalie for the New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League. In 1938, along with his brother John Cosby, they founded Gerry Cosby & Co. which was continued on after his death as a family run business. He was known for his hockey uniform innovations. In 1997 he was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame.
