Gala was born October 19, 1934 in Kirkwood, KS to William Oliver "Ol" and Eleanor Faye (Gilbreath) Morton. She attended area schools, graduating from Crawford Community High School.
On October 17, 1953 in Pittsburg, KS, she married James E. "Jay" Clark. He survives of the home. She worked for PSU as a secretary for the Technology Department. In 1985 she was voted employee of the year. She also worked for Jim Radell Construction and volunteered her time at the Crawford County genealogy society.
Additional survivors include her sons Rodney Clark and his wife Phyllis of Derby, KS; Robert Clark and wife Julie of Blue Springs, MO; daughter Marla Whetzell and husband Steve of Arma, KS; brothers Wendell Morton and Norman D. Morton both of Independence, MO; sisters Martha Ann Friend of Topeka, KS and Nadine Meyer of Bonner Springs, KS; along with 7 grandchildren Dylan Clark, Wyatt Clark, Morgan Clark all of Derby, Garrett Clark, Madison Clark both of Blue Springs, KS Jayson Scott of Pittsburg, Phillip Oler of Joplin, MO; along with 2 great-grandchildren Kyler and Corgan Oler of Joplin. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Buddy and Roger Morton and sister June Hollifield.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Galen Friedrichs officiating. Burial will follow in Crocker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8pm on Tuesday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home. Friends may call the funeral home after 3pm on Tuesday.
