She was born on Aug. 29, 1924 in Metz, Missouri to Ralph C. and Roberta C. Coons Esterbrook. She married her loving husband, E. Wayne Silvey in Mojave, California on June 3, 1946. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Sandra L. (Bobbie W.) Futch, Linda D. Virkus and Janet VanFleet; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Aaron Esterbrook and one sister, Waneta Eby.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Loren Esterbrook, Ralph Esterbrook, Roberta Esterbrook and Lorene Esterbrook.
Mary attended schools in Kansas and California and she graduated from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, Calif., in 1943.
She retired from Eureka Williams as an inspector. Mary had worked in banking in her younger years in California. She had also worked at Illinois State University as a resident hall attendant, General Electric and for State Farm Insurance.
During World War II, Mary worked as a civil employee for the United States government. She also worked for the departments of the U.S. Navy, Army Airforce and the U.S. Marine Corps.
She was a member of Machinist Lodge Local 1000 and its Seniors Club, the Alliance for Retired Americans and the First United Methodist Church in Normal. Mary worked as an election judge for many years. She enjoyed collecting items and one of her hobbies was collecting coins.
