Doris was born in Allegheny County, PA to parents William R. Anderson and Lavina "Mae" (Elkin) Anderson. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank McGeary after 63 years marriage and second husband Mason Jones after 5th year of marriage. Doris died at age 90 while living in Melbourne , FL. She is survived by her younger siblings Mary Lou Carnahan (Harry) and Robert F. Anderson (Shirley). She is also survived by children F. Gregory (Beverly), Kevin, and Erin Apollonio (Thomas) as well as six Grandchildren and seven Gr-Grandchildren.
Doris was obviously a stunning beauty, but she also had remarkable running speed at a time when Women's Track and Field did not exist in her area. She turned her athleticism into being an excellent dancer. Soon after her Springdale H.S. graduation, she would marry Frank McGeary who had returned as a WWII Navy Veteran and lived nearby. Doris was a beloved homemaker and Mother that enjoyed arts and crafts. Doris was also a swimming Instructor for a youth Day Camp and active in church and local volunteer groups. She lived most of her 5th decade of life overseas in North Africa with Husband Frank, and they traveled extensively on the shores and deserts of that continent as well as throughout Europe. Doris and Frank's Judeo Christian faith led to a passion for Bible Study and she held many Bible Classes with local Algerian neighbors and friends as well as European and US Expats. They organized Bible Study gatherings at her home and church with friends after returning to the USA in retirement. Their retirement homes were a lakeside home in Pennsylvania followed by their Melbourne (Suntree), Florida residence.
