Mrs. Katherine Rinehart Taylor, well known interior decorator and Bloomington native, died Saturday in Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago it was learned here Monday. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at Graceland Chapel, Chicago. Mrs. Taylor was born here 62 years ago, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Rinehart. She left here 20 years or more ago, and for this last decade was consulting interior decorator in the antique galleries at Marshall Fields & Co.
Mrs. Taylor spent her childhood and earlier married life in Bloomington. She was married November 14, 1894 to Lieut. Leonard Morton Prince who had graduated from West Point a year previously. Lieut. Prince was the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Prince, his father being a lawyer here, one of the founders of the McLean County Historical Society, and co-editor of two volumes of history for that society. Lieut. Prince, who had attained high honors in his career at West Point, died in 1895 as a result of an accident he had suffered in the Gymnasium at West Point.
After the death of Lieut. Prince, Mrs. Prince remained in Bloomington for several years, where she became a society leader. She also did some writing in local papers' society columns. She then removed to Chicago, where she was later married to George Halleck Taylor, a prominent real estate dealer. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Taylor; one son, Leonard M. Prince, Chicago and a sister Mrs. Samuel N. Holliday of New York.
