Elizabeth Williams Day was taken into the John Day family with her brother Amos when their father was "accidently killed by Indians" and her mother was unable to raise the large family of children on her own. Both Amos and Elizabeth ended up married to other children in the family of John and Abigail Poe Day, living near Felicity in southern Ohio at the time.
John Day (father of her husband Edward Poe Day and who took Elizabeth and Amos in) was born in 1755 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and died in 1817 in Clermont County, Ohio. He served in Washington's army during the Revolutionary War. Edward Poe, father of John's wife Abigail, also was a private in the Revolutionary War and was John Day's first cousin. The common grandfather was Christopher Day, who was probably born in England and was living in Bucks County, PA as early as 1690. Christopher Day is buried in the Old Day Cemetery, on Dublin Pike above Doylestown, Bucks Co., PA.
