Lucien Wilbert Wilson was born on Sunday, July 10. 1927 at his home in Waldron, Arkansas to James Louis Wilson and Parlee Catlett Wilson. He was one of eight children having three brothers Delbert, James , and Donald and four sisters Anna, Elewe, Virda, and Lora.
He enlisted in the Navy in April 1945, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in May 1946. Lucien married Mary Ellen Hutchison in Pawnee, Okla. on Saturday, November 12, 1949. Together they had three children: Lue Ellen, Rondal DeWayne, and Connie Sue. The family lived in Leadville, Colorado where he worked at the Climax Mine, retiring after 30 years' service. Upon retiring in 1982, he and wife Mary moved to Skedee Okla. During this time Lucien worked at the Greenlight Auto Parts Store in Fairfax. In 1997 the couple moved again making their home in Perry Okla. They were blessed to be together for over 60 years before Mary's passing in April 2010.
Lucien was a kind, quiet man who loved his family. He had a keen wit and languid sense of humor. He loved glazed donuts, ice cream and corn bread in his buttermilk. His yard always had freshly cut grass and according to him, bedtime was immediately after the 10 o'clock news.
When his grandkids were babies, Lucien would often baby-sit and thinking their socks were too tight, he would cut the tops of the socks to loosen them and make the baby more comfortable. He ruined numerous pairs of baby socks. He was always willing to load up the Chevy Luv and take his kids and grandkids water-skiing at the Pawnee lake. Lucien had a small car collection that intrigued the kids and he treasured visits from his various family members.
Lucien is preceded in death by his wife Mary Wilson, his son-in-law Melvin Benham, and his great-grandson Wade Wilson.
Today he is survived in death by his brother Don Wilson and his family, his sister-in-law Lois Wilson and her family. Further survived by his children Lue and Allen Brownlee, Rondal and Sue Wilson, and Connie Benham. His grandkids, Jeff and Jennifer Brownlee, Steve and Wendy Brownlee, Tyrel and Deana Wilson, Ranee and Josh Michael, Tami Perez, Beck Benham, and Chris Sypert. Sixteen adored great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
Lucien was a beloved brother, husband, father, and papa. All who loved him will feel his loss until we are reunited in the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ has wrapped his arms around Lucien at last and has carried him home.
