Phyllis Suzanne Flint, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2020 due to complications from a major cancer surgery. Phyllis was born to Leroy and Helen Gravell and was raised in Alhambra, CA.

She attended Pasadena City College where she received her Associates Degree. She later attended Brigham Young University and California State University, Los Angeles. In her younger adult years Phyllis enjoyed dressing nicely and looking good! That paid off when she met a handsome banker, Richard (Dick), at a church dance in Los Angeles. They married in January 1970 in the Los Angeles California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Phyllis raised 3 boys in their home in Arcadia, CA and was a wonderful mother. All three of her boys served church missions and graduated from BYU. In 1996 Dick and Phyllis moved to Provo, UT where they resided until Dick’s death in 2010.

One of their favorite trips after Dick’s retirement was to visit and stay in Dick’s boyhood home in Bellflower, Illinois each summer. In more recent years Phyllis was surrounded each day with her grandchildren as she lived with her son Chris and his wife Annette.

Most of Phyllis’ adult life she suffered from schizoaffective disorder. Although this condition could be debilitating at times, with the help of wonderful doctors and family she pressed forward with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She endured several bouts of skin cancer and most recently had been diagnosed with recurrent esophageal cancer in March.

After several surgeries this year, including the complete removal of her esophagus, she was cancer free. Shortly afterward however some serious complications arose in early September. She understood the surgery posed some major risks but was hopeful it could further extend her life. Her faith and trust in God was always remarkably strong and her presence in a room brought a feeling of great peace. We know she accepted God’s will as she graduated from her mortal life on earth. Although she is already greatly missed we take solace knowing she is no longer suffering and is back again with her eternal companion.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her son Jeffrey, and her granddaughter Ilona. She is survived by her sisters Carole and Terry, her sons Randall (Anita) and Christopher (Annette), her daughter-in-law Inga (Nathan), and 8 beautiful grandchildren.

A private burial service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Bellflower Township Cemetery in Bellflower, Illinois.
