FINAL RITES FOR THOMAS "R.Q." McDANIEL
Final rites were held Wednesday, January 22 from the Primitive Baptist Church in Bowie for Thomas R.Q. McDaniel, 49, who died suddenly Monday afternoon at 3:30 P.M. in Wichita Falls. Elder A.B. Hughes of Vernon and Elder B.L. Huff of Ryan, Oklahoma, officiated.
Mr. McDaniel was born in Clay County, Texas; he was married to Miss Ada Stambough at Vashti, Texas in 1916 and moved to Bowie in 1918 where he worked as a trucker and public works.
He was well known throughout the area and had been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for the past 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie Ada McDaniel, mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. McDaniel, two brothers, Ira McDaniel of Ardmore and Dewey McDaniel of Seagraves, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Meek of Plainview, and Mrs. Valerie Perbost of Los Angeles, Calif.
Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Alva Stambaugh, Robert Stambough, Tommy Stambough, Verrol Stambaugh, Leroy McDaniel, Marion McDaniel as pallbearers. They are all nephews of the deceased.
The picture of R.Q. and Willie was in my grandmother's box of pictures. The picture of R.Q. was sent to me by Valerie (McDaniel) Perbost, a sister of R.Q. I took the picture of his headstone.
R.Q. and I were double 1st cousins, 1 time removed.
