Shirley Lee Hightower, age 79, of San Augustine County, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, at CHI St. Luke's Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, Texas.

Mrs. Hightower was born August 1, 1941, in San Augustine County to parents Leroy and Ruby (Lamberth) Jones and was a lifelong area resident. Shirley was a longtime faithful member of Grapevine Missionary Baptist Church. She worked several years in the offices of Dr. Matthew Buchele and Dr. W.E. Furniss as well as Wyman Roberts Funeral Home.

Her survivors include her sons, Ralph Hightower and wife Tessie Mae of Broaddus, Texas, and Micah Hightower and wife Melody of San Angelo, Texas; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hightower of San Augustine, Texas; sisters, Ilene Smith and husband Mike of San Augustine, Texas, and Lutherine Sowell and husband Leonard of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandchildren, Alton Hightower, Rachel Hightower, Kamden Hightower, Carmen Brown, Letha Saenz, Steve Saenz Jr., Bryan Brookshire, and Meagan Brookshire; seven great-grandchildren; and a god son, Josh Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Doyle Hightower, on August 11, 2000; a son, Kealon Doyle Hightower, on October 30, 2020; her parents, Leroy and Ruby Jones; a sister, Lynda Wagstaff; and a brother, Carlton Gore.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Dickerson Cemetery, located on County Road 4255 off FM 3279 in San Augustine County, with Wade Bryan and Charles Sharp officiating.

Pallbearers: Joey Watson, Rodney Ainsworth, Josh Mills, Edmon Fussell, John Welch, and Charles Sharp. Honorary pallbearers: Randy Runnels, Jeff Boyd, Alton Hightower, Kamden Hightower, Steve Saenz Jr., Marshall Hightower, Steven Hays, and Robert Cartwright.
