Mrs. Miller, a retired teacher of the Junction City Arkansas School System, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at the age of seventy-eight. She was a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bernice, LA, and a current member of Spearsville Baptist Church, Spearsville, LA. Mrs. Miller loved her Lord Jesus Christ and faithfully served him for many years in all capacities of church life. She played piano for many years and carried on a legacy of serving Jesus passed down from her pastor father.
Among her special achievements and recognitions were Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and KTVE Educator of the Week. Mrs. Miller enjoyed camping, gardening, and shopping with her sisters and friends. She loved her family dearly, especially her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Miller will be missed dearly by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Bro. James Miller; daughter, Carole Bowen Witten and husband Kevin; son, Wess Bowen and wife Tina; grandchildren, Wesley Reid Bowen, Taylor Witten, and Gavin Witten; step-children, Alan Miller and wife Sandy, and Jan Rachal and husband Joe; sisters, Verda O’Bannon, Betty Elkins, and Pat Elkins and husband Tom; brother, Herbert Prewitt and wife Winnie; and many cherished family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of many years, Jimmy W. Bowen; parents, A.H. and Flossie Mae Prewitt; brother, Marvin Prewitt; and sister, Doris Barkley.
Serving as pallbearers were Stan Elkins, Jay McCallum, Triston Elkins, Canyon Elkins, Gary Williams, Trey Parker, Colin Brice, and John Starner. Honorary pallbearers were the Spearsville Baptist Church Ruth Class.
