Ruthanne Amick Carr Rector, 90, passed away Jan. 1, 2017, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus.

She was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Tipton, to Guy and Bertha (Brisentine) Amick, but moved to Anderson in 1930.

She graduated from Anderson High School in 1943. Ruthanne worked at Gospel Trumpet, Indiana Bell, and retired from First Savings and Loan in 1981. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family at the lake. She loved animals, especially her dog, Honeybee. She was a member of The Community Church of Alexandria.

Ruthanne is survived by daughters, Stephanie (Tim) Williams, Marcia Porter, and Debby (Rex) Sheets; son, Denny Carr (Phyllis Butterfield); stepson, Jerry (Pam) Rector; grandsons, Jeff (Tara) Williams, Ryan (Natalie) Williams, Troy Porter, Dan (Maxine) Carr, Randy Carr, Joby Sheets, and Nathan (Dawn) Sheets; stepgrandsons, Brent Rector and Brett Henderson; stepgranddaughter, Jill Coblenz; great-grandchildren, Grant Williams, Lexie Williams, Blake Holland, Carter Sheets, Sophie Sheets, Lora Fillgrove (Nic), Ariel Carr, Remington Carr, Chelsie Carr, Kylie Porter, and Jacob Porter; sisters-in-law, Betty Stinson, Ann Carr and Corrine Rector; granddaughter-in-law, Cathy Porter; along with several great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Jo Timmons, Thelma Smith and Doris Roush; infant brother, Kenneth Amick; first husband and father of her children, Robert Carr; second husband, Robert Rector; grandson, Jay Porter; and stepdaughter, Jacquie Campbell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Community Church, located at 10963 N. Walnut, Scotts Addition, Alexandria. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service. The family wishes to thank Dr. William Kopp, the nursing staff at St. Vincent-Anderson, 3 South and 5 South, and the caregivers at Bethany Pointe for the excellent care and kindness given to Ruthanne and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Humane Society, Animal Protection League, or The Community Church of Alexandria. Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services in Anderson is assisting the family.
