Per Find-A-Grave contributor [email protected];
"Almir was born to Charles A. Krakofsky and Almira Emily Boss in Waterford, Racine County, Wisconsin on Jun. 6, 1881. He was the youngest of their four children. His birth name was Amir Boss Krakofsky.
He had a barber shop in Waterford and his only child, James learned this same trade in his shop. (This barber shop still exists in Waterford, with the same old pole... of course under new family ownership).
In 1906, Almir married Rose Foley in Waterford. Rose was the daughter of John and Maryann Foley of Vemon, Waukesha, Wisconsin.
I am not certain if Almir ever made an official name change to "Kray". The City Directories, census information, and draft registration in 1942 all list his name as Krakofsky. It is believed that his son made his name change to James Leroy Kray in about 1935. This name might have been transposed to this family gravestone when it was placed later in time.
Almir died in Waterford on May 11, 1951, at the age of 69."
