Obituary
Esther Marie (Kollmann) Elze

Esther began her earthly pilgrimage on Aguust 14, 1904, in Daykin, Nebraska, one of three children born to August W.F. and emma Hermann Kollmann. Her father baptized her into the Holy Christian faith on September 11, 1904 at Daykin and Esther made her confirmation vows at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Beatrice, Nebraska on September 22, 1918. Esther graduated from Beatrice High School in 1921. Esther and Fred A. Elze were joined in holy matrimony by her brother, Victor, at St. Paul Lutheran, Beatrice, on September 1, 1926. They became the parents of three daughters: Delores, Janice and Marilyn. Before her marriage Esther worked as a bookkeeper in the Gage County treasurer's office, where she was known for her accuracy. After her marriage, Esther fulfilled the role of homemaker and served with Fred in Lutheran congregations at Zion, Imperial and Immanuel, Champion, Nebraska; St. Peter, Gresham, Nebraska; St. John, Galva, Iowa; Bethel, Sutherland, Iowa and Trinity, Royal, Iowa. After Fred's retirement from active ministry in 1975, Esther lived in Beatrice, Nebraska, until moving to Omaha to live with her daughter, Delores, and son-in-law, Jim, following surgery in 1992. Esther died on Sunday, October 15, 1995 at Villa de Sante in Omaha, where she had moved following surgery in August. She was proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Victor; sister, clara Collins, and by Fred who died in 1981. Esther is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Jim Albanese and Janice and Roger Hass, all of Omaha; Marily Jarard of St. Petersburg, Florida; six grandchildren - carol Bowley, Marcia Bergstrom, David Hass and Timothy Hass; Rebecca Jarrard and Melissa Moody; three step-grandchildren - Mark Albanese, Kathy Stevens, and Krista Jarrard; three great-grandchildren - Dylan, Lindsey and Luaren Bowley; Anne Marie, Lisa, Amy and Mark Albanese; and Jenny and Brian Stevens; nieces and nephews. We remember Esther as a committed follower of Jesus Christ, who fulfilled her discipleship by loving and enjoying life as a devoted and serving mother, faithful pastor's spouse and as an avid sports fans, especially of her beloved Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs!
