Becenti died Nov. 15, 2020, in Albuquerque. He was born Nov. 17, 1942, in Gallup. He was born of the Two Who Came to the Water Clan, born for the Mountain Cove Clan.
Becenti was a medicine man, silversmith, artist, singer, and hoop dancer. He was employed with Kirk McGee Mine and was a loyal Wingate High School Bears fan, "yeego shush yeego!"
Survivors include his wife Rose M. Becenti; sons Tony Becenti Jr., Truman Becenti, Randy Becenti, Emerson Becenti, Thurman Becenti, and Darrell Becenti; daughters Roselyn Becenti, Emmaline Becenti, Tanya Tsosie, and Roseann Becenti; brother Harrison Becenti; sister Esther Largo; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Becenti Sr. and Elsie Lee Becenti; brothers Net Becenti, Jack Becenti Jr., and Virgil Becenti; and sisters Alice Begay, Stella Begay, Edith Livingston, Marilyn Morgan, and Loretta Becenti.
Pallbearers will be Truman Becenti, Harrison Becenti, Mathias Tsosie, Tony Becenti III, Bart Francisco, and Rodney Walthall. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremiah Becenti, Tony Becenti Jr., Randy Becenti, Emerson Becenti, Thurman Becenti, Darrell Becenti, and Dennise Becenti.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Tanya Tsosie's residence Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020.
