He was born January 10, 1931 in Carroll County, the son of the late Wingo Jackson Horton and Lettie Alderman McGrady.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Fisher Horton; two sons, Timmothy Horton and Douglas Horton; three sisters and six brothers.
Raper was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his son, Gary and Christine Horton of Floyd, VA; grandson and spouse, Kerry “Robin” and Cristina King; great-grandson, Kolby King, all of Fort Chiswell; daughter-in-law, Ella Liddle of Hillsville, VA.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Foster Falls Cemetery with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating.
