Seaborn is the son of Larkin and Mahala Holt...
Born in Franklin County, Georgia...
Larkin and Mahala are listed as First Families of Gilmer County, moving here from Habersham County, Georgia, and listed among the first 60 families of 1834... Gilmer County was established December 3, 1832...
Seaborn and his family moved to Gilmer after the first census in 1834 and are listed on the 1840 census...

Seaborn Holt, Cicero Holt and The Holt (Gold) Mine are mentioned in the working diary of John Lafayette Summerour, several times between Aug 27, 1881, and Feb 15, 1884.
Mr. Summerour was a mining agent from Amicalola, Georgia... He walked everywhere he went, using many old native footpaths. He commented the roads were very bad...

He and others spent the nights in local homes along the way. Paying room and board for the nights stayed...

On this night, he stayed at the home of Seaborn Holt... and his journal comments entered for that night were as follows...

Wednesday, Feb 13, 1884
Warm and cloudy. Heavy storms of wind and rain during the night. Stayed all night with Mr. Holt and son. The old man is 78 years old. In the possession of all his faculties and gives much interesting accounts of old times and people.

Mr. Summerour, in his diary speaks of few people by calling them Mr. ... He also didn't pass out compliments freely... I find this a nice reflection on Seaborn's character...
