Russell H Robert, age 80, of West Manchester, OH, passed away at home, on November 22, comforted by his family, after a brief and unexpected illness.

Russell was a graduate of Lewisburg High School in 1958 and continued to enjoy frequent gatherings with his classmates. He also earned a business degree at Miami Jacobs College. He was employed at Lewisburg Container for 46 years and retired as a salesman in 2004. He maintained friendships with many colleagues and clients.

Russell lived a quiet, simple life of integrity, reflecting his Christian faith in church and community. He valued the bible knowledge gained from Bethel studies, small groups, Sunday school classes, and Men’s Fraternity. A member of Castine Church, he served in its probation ministry, and as a Deacon in hospitality and hospital ministries. He participated in church recreation leagues of bowling, softball, and dartball. Among friends he enjoyed playing euchre and golf.

Russell served on the L&M Products Board for a number of years. He helped establish Civitan Club in Lewisburg which was instrumental in developing the village park. He coached a few baseball teams and assisted with Boy Scouts and 4-H. He was also an avid supporter of school athletics and band. He and his wife were privileged to be youth ministry advisors for 10 years in Lewisburg.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Barbara (Widau) Robert, his parents-in-law Franklin and Lillian (Penwell) Yost, and grandchildren Victoria and Morgan Robert. He is survived by Melanie, his wife of 59 years; son Ron and Sharon – Hannah, Ryan, Randall, Heather, Riley, Adian, Jessa, and Joleah; son Dean and Susan – Dylan and Sydney; son Matthew and Katelyn – Alivia, Maxwell, and Mallory (due in December); sister Alice Booher; sister-in-law Dianna and Bob Thomas; beloved nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. He was the international host father to 10 foreign students who enriched his life.

A private service for the extended family will be held at Castine Church on Wednesday, December 2, at 11:00am – burial to follow at Monroe Cemetery.
