Rev. Charles Franklin Golden, 80, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 29, 2007. The Rev. Golden retired from Bell South after 36 years of service. He has been a minister and pastor close to 50 years. He was the founder and pastor of Solid Rock Holiness Church in Pensacola for the past 29 years.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother and father, Charlie Lee and Ethel Golden; brother, Lee B. Golden; great-grandson, Patrick Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Madie Jo McNorton-Golden; three daughters, Peggy Spivey, Patsy Flowers (Jimmy) and Pam Minchew (Bill); seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances (Pete) Wall, Mary Ballard, Nellie (Austin) McGraw, and Virginia (B.D.) Hendricks; along with a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Faith Chapel North with the Rev. Don Rich and the Rev. Russell McDonald officiating.
Active pallbearers will be J.R. Flowers, Drew Minchew, Aaron Wood, Tim Spivey, Caleb Flowers, Charlie Flowers, Christian Wood, Bernie Wall, Billy Golden, Ricky Hendricks and Greg Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be a host of minister friends.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the funeral home.
FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, North 1000 Highway 29, is in charge of arrangements.
