Vera J. Ackerman
Vera J. Ackerman, 91, of Parkersburg passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.
She was born in Roane County, W.Va., a daughter of the late J.W. and Freda Burdette Wright on Dec. 28, 1915. Vera once worked at the American Viscose Co. in Parkersburg and retired from St. Joseph?s Hospital, where she worked in the newborn nursery. She was a longtime member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Parkersburg.
She is survived by one son, Roger Ackerman of Vienna; two grandchildren, Brenda Thompson and husband, Mike, of Mineral Wells and Kevin Ackerman and wife, Mindy, of Vienna; four grandchildren, Heather Thompson of Mineral Wells and Holly, Haley and Hunter Ackerman, all of Vienna; two brothers, Clifford Wright (Betty) of Belpre and Paul Wright of Parkersburg; two brothers-in-law, Lester Ackerman (Betty) of Woodsfield, Ohio, and Edward Ackerman of Lewisville, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Mattie Wright of Lubeck and Alberta Ackerman of Lewisville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Ackerman; a daughter-in-law, Judy Ackerman; two brothers, Delbert and Cella Wright; one sister, Clara Walton; two brothers-in-law, John Walton and Walter Ackerman; and three sisters-in-law, Beulah Ackerman, Thelma Wright and Garnet Wright.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Landmark Baptist Church in Parkersburg with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
