Michel was the son of Miguel (Michael)Anzero Piveauteau and Apolonie Suzanne Broussard and the grandson on Guillaume (Jaques) Pivoteau and Louise St. Eustache. His first marriage was to Suzanne Hargrave with whom he had seven children. His second marriage was to Caroline Milberry Arthur with whom he had thirteen children. He lies beside Caroline in the family cemetery at the home place in Johnson Bayou, Louisiana. The family name is also spelled Peveto and Pevauteau. Baptized 4 February 1799 at St. Martin du Tours Church in St. Martinsville, Louisiana, Michel was a private in Capt. Shadrack Porter's Company of Infantry, 15th Regiment, Louisiana Militia, in the 1812 War and was in the Battle of New Orleans. He married first Susanne Rachel Hargrave, 15 July 1817 at St. Martin du Tours Church in St. Martinsville, Louisiana. The newlyweds settled in Jefferson Co, Texas about 1835, on a Spanish land grant at a place called Peveto Point, across from what is now Bayou Din Golf Club on La Belle Road. The couple had seven children together, Louisa Elizabeth, Michel III, Jean (John), Joseph, Adelaide, Pelagie 'Plagine', and Alexander 'Alexis'. When the Alamo fell during the Texas Revolution in 1836, the family left the area across the Sabine River in Louisiana. Michel and Suzanne's son, Michel III, remained in Texas with the Texas army, survived the Battle of San Jacinto, but died soon after it. After the victory at San Jacinto, Michel and Suzanne Peveto returned to Texas and built a log cabin at Green's Bluff, which is now Orange, in 1838 or 1839. Suzanne Hargrave Peveto died sometimes after this and was buried on the property. Michel married second, Caroline Millberry Arthur, 5 September 1843 in Jefferson County, Texas. The couple had thirteen children together, Gille, Lucinda, Elizabeth 'Betty', Malonie 'Lonnie', Olizeam, Asa Aleza, Laura Josephine, Furney, Tazie, Denease Annie, Savan 'Vannie', Ozenia, and Ozan. The couple moved back to Louisiana before 1850 and settled in Johnson Bayou in Cameron Parish. At the time Cameron Parish was part of Calcasieu Parish, which was formed from St. Landry Parish in 1840.
