Mildred M. Frakes, 90, of 1518 Mulberry St. died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Born May 29, 1909, in Galesburg to Heman and Mary Carnes Patterson, she married Edgar H. "Harry" Frakes on Nov. 10, 1925, in Peoria. He died Nov. 18, 1978.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, two half brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, James of Galesburg and William of Rockford; one daughter, Mary Young of Decatur; and one sister, Ruth Watson of Galesburg.

She worked as a seamstress at O.T. Johnson's department store for 25 years, retiring in 1967.

She was a member of the Galesburg Womens Club, Knox County Republican Women and Knox County Grandmothers Club. She served as a 4th Ward election judge for 40 years.

A member of East Main Congregational United Church of Christ for 73 years, she was a member of the Babcock Church Circle and the board of deacons.

Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
