He was born October 1, 1955 to Willie Bearshield and Bertha (Thunder Bull) Bearshield in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1973. While in high school, he played and lettered in football while playing for the Red Tornados. He also played baseball. After graduation he attended college at Southwestern State in Weatherford. He had a passion for building and entered the world of construction. Throughout his life, he traveled extensively through the state assisting in building a high school, office buildings in OkC, retirement center.
During his travels he met Karen Youker and daughter Leah Youker. They shared a home together and from this union came a son, Cody Bearshield.
In the summer of 2018, Leonard was stricken with meningitis and was left physically disabled the remainder of his life until his death.
He loved watching the Red Tornado’s play. He enjoyed watching sports as well. He liked playing dominos and playing hand games. He was a member of the Oklahoma Indians Handgame Team.
He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, Teral Trevor and Tatum.
He leaves behind two sisters, Mary Beaver, and companion Allen Sutton of OkC, Alice Mae Marquez and husband Frank of El Reno, two brothers Pete Bearshield and wife Gayle and Alton Bearshield all of Clinton.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
