Wife of Zachariah Isbell (1799-1859).
Daughter of John Howard Owens and Rhoda Bean (1783-c1826); granddaughter of Capt. Robert Bean and Martha (Womack) Bean.
Her mother Rhoda Bean Owens died in Jackson County, Alabama, and her father afterwards moved to Tishomingo County, Mississippi and later Itawamba County.

Martha Owens Isbell and her husband Zach Isbell moved from Jackson County, Alabama to Tishomingo County, Mississippi 1849-50 to visit or live near her father, leaving one son in Jackson County with his grandparents Levi and Jane Isbell. They returned to Marshall County, Alabama and in later years she moved back to Tishomingo County where she lived with her daughter at the time of her death.

In the 1850 census (Nov. 7, 1850), Zachariah Isbell with wife Martha are living in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, with their children John F. (11), [Tabitha] Adeline (14), Mary [Cordelia] (7), [Martha Lou] Nancy (5), [Margaret Loucetta] Telitha (2), and Henry [Wiley] (1). Living next door were their son William Isbell and his wife Elizabeth and also their newly married daughter Cassie Isbell Bruce with her husband William Bruce.

In the 1860 census (Jul. 24, 1860), Martha Patsy Owens Isbell is living in Marshall County, Alabama, alone with children [Mary] Cordelia (17), Martha ["Nancy"] (16), Margaret [Telitha] (12), and[Henry] Wiley (10). There is no mention of her husband or of her marital status, but her husband Zachariah Isbell had presumably died about 1859.

In the 1870 census (Aug. 29, 1870), Martha Patsy Owens Isbell is living in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, with her daughter Mattie [Martha] (25), son [Henry] Wiley (21), daughter Maggie [Margaret] (23) and Margaret's daughter Martha Ellen Belue (3) from her first marriage.

In the last record we have, the 1880 census (June 11, 1880), Martha Patsy Owens Isbell is a widow living in Itawamba County, Mississippi, with her daughter Martha Lou Nancy Isbell Wren and son-in-law Francis Weatherford "Doc" Wren.

A number of family trees online give the date of her death as 1892, in either Itawamba or Tishomingo County, Mississippi, but without documented verification.
