Edward Earl 'Bud' Bonn, age 70, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at his home in Holcombe.

He was born Jan. 20, 1937, in the town of Ruby to Edward Albert and Mildred Sylvia (Luke) Bonn on their family farm.

He attended grade school at Ruby School, and graduated from Holcombe High School in 1955 where he was active in band.

He was to married Carol Saxe from 1956 to 1992.

Bud married Sandra Larson on March 21, 1998.

He was a member and former elder of First Presbyterian Church in Cornell, was past treasurer of the Equity Livestock Board of Directors, and a former supervisor on the Ruby Town Board. Bud was a charter member of the Lake Holcombe Lions Club. He was club president for two years, during which time he worked with the head of NSP to establish what is now the Lions campground — an accomplishment he was always proud of. Bud had served the Lions Club International organization as past district governor for District 27-E1 in 1988-89. While serving as governor his main project was the 'Lions Quest,' a program fighting drug abuse.

He was a rural mail carrier out of Cable, and on Route 2 out of the Holcombe Post Office for many years. He retired in November 2005.

He loved hunting; and his favorite spot to be was the 'hunting shack' out in Ruby where his parents had once lived. His children and grandchildren now enjoy that same spot.

He is survived by his wife, Sandi, of Holcombe; Carol Bonn of Holcombe; five children, Barbara (Sean) O'Halloran of Prior Lake, Minn., Jane (Ken) Ash of Holcombe, Tim (Sheila) Bonn of Holcombe, Mike (Kris) Bonn of Durand and Traci (Frank Jr.) Cynor of Brackett; a stepdaughter, Marisa (Travis) Tainter, of Holcombe; eight grandchildren, Colleen and Thomas O'Halloran, Brittany and Ryan Ash, Timothy 'T.J.' Bonn, Kayla and Michael Bonn and Cody Cynor; two step-grandchildren, Jay-Jay and Seth Tainter. He is also survived by three sisters, June Hagen of Conway, Ark., Katherine 'Kay' (Duane) Diamond of Cornell and Bonnie (Al) Dixon of Holcombe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darrell, in infancy; a brother, Kenneth; and a brother-in-law, Florian Hagen.

There will be no services.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Bud's name.

Arrangements were made through Borton Funeral Home, Cornell.
