John "Jack" Jergens, 88, of Michigan City passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at her home in Michigan City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church with Father Kevin Huber officiating. Viewing will be held on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Root Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Jack was born June 10, 1932 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Arthur and Elvina (Thibideau) Jergens.

On October 12, 1957 in Michigan City at St. Mary's Church he married Rosalynn "Rosie" Jergens who is preceding him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Richard) Thalmann of Westville, IN; grandchildren; Jacob (Jill) Nekvasil, Andrew Kinney, Bronwyn Kinney, Mark (Rachelle) Thalmann, Jon Thalmann, Daniel (Haley) Thalmann; great-grandchildren; Nora Nekvasil and Calvin Thalmann;extended family and friends; Christian, Jennifer and Elena Gilworth; Marshall, Tiffany, Carter, and Piper Gilworth; Diane Thalmann; Bruce Hastell, Benny and Gale Graves, Dave Sheeler, Ted Uzelac.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalynn "Rosie" Jergens, brother James J. Jergens, son-in-law Robert Kinney, Jr., and daughter Kelly Samford.

Jack worked for NIPSCO for over 40 years and owned Jack's Pumps. He was a member of Queen of All Saints Church and was active in the parish festival for many years. Jack loved bowling, car shows, antique cars. Jack also refurbished old gas pumps. Jack was a member of the Pioneer Auto Association and a member of the Moose Family Center #980. He leaves behind his beloved dog Weezie. Jack also loved dark chocolate and the Chicago Cubs.

Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
