Theodore “Dude” Bailey, 99, of Calhoun, GA died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

He was born on August 11, 1921. Dude was born in Floyd County; he was the son of the late Quincy and Viola Carter Bailey. Along with his parents, his wife of more than sixty years, Ruth Nesbitt Bailey, preceded him in death in 2008. His siblings, Oscar Bailey, Olivia Bailey, Ann Lou Allen, Blanche King, Elizabeth Mashburn, Beulah Mae Bailey, Lelton Bailey, Noble Bailey, C.F. Bailey, Geraldine Worley, Louis Bailey, Kenneth Bailey, and Foy Bailey, and his son-in-law, L.C. Falls, also preceded him in death.

He was a lifetime member of Oostanaula Baptist Church; he served as a deacon for many years and as Sunday School Superintendent for thirty-seven years. He worked for the Goron County Landfill and after his retirement, he went back to work for Santek. He proudly served his country in The United States Navy during WWII.

He is survived by his children, Sandra Bailey Falls, and Rodney (Joan) Bailey; his grandchildren, Shireen Falls Howard and Jason Walden; his sister, Jeanette Barnette; his great-grandchildren, Trevor Howard, Danae Howard, Kasten Walden, and Arya Walden; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Oostanaula Baptist Church. For the safety of the family and public, face coverings are required and social distancing guidelines will be practiced. The graveside service, with military honors, will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Gen. Terry Nesbitt will officiate. Friends and family will meet directly at the graveside on Saturday.
