BENTONVILLE -- Marcella Brower Key, 84, of Bentonville passed away Sept. 22, 2007, in Bentonville.

She was born April 22, 1923, in Tahoka, Texas, to Thomas Edward and Holly Pearl Jackson Brower. The family moved to Lubbock, Texas, and later to Portales, N.M., where Marcella enjoyed school dances. In December 1940, the Brower family moved to Rogers, where she attended Rogers High School.

She was married to John Elbert Key of Rogers, on Sept. 30, 1942. Six children were born to this union. John preceded her in death on June 14, 1985.

Also preceding Marcella in death, their daughter, Linda Joyce Key Brown on Nov. 29, 2004, and an infant granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Key, daughter of Bill and Sherry Key, on Sept. 14, 1987.

Marcella is survived by her children, three sons, John DuWayne and Gail Beaver Key of Bentonville, William Stuart "Bill" and Sherry McClaflin Key of Rogers and James Thomas "Jim" Key and Susan Porter of Fayetteville; two daughters, Vicky Irene Key of Bentonville and Elizabeth Ann "Beth" and David Suobank of Rogers; and her very devoted son-in-law, James Michael "Mike" Brown of Rogers.

She also is survived by eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild and also two "honorary" grandchildren.

She leaves three aunts, residing in Texas and California and many cousins, nieces and nephews, with whom she enjoyed very close relationships.

John and Marcella lived in California, Oklahoma and Kansas during their years together, frequently returning to Rogers which was always home to them. They were charter members of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

Until Feb. 1969, when they moved to Baxter Springs, Kan., Marcella worked in the school cafeteria at Southside Elementary School in Rogers, where she was also a substitute teacher. In the summers, she worked at Pel-Freez and at Emerson Electric.

In 1975, Marcella retired from Baxter Springs Memorial Hospital. After John's retirement, John and Marcella moved to their lake home in Rogers, located on land which was formerly named Key. They were the fifth generation to reside there.

After John's death in 1985, Marcella moved to Pea Ridge where she lived until 1998, when she sold her home and moved to Bentonville. She enjoyed very frequent visits at her home from family, friends and neighbors, all of whom will miss her beyond words.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Bland Cemetery in Rogers.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
