Salvatore Mannino

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Salvatore Mannino, age 97 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, July 30, 2007 at his residence.

Born in Cinisi, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Maria Stella Giannola Mannino, he had formerly resided in Ringoes, NJ and had resided in Raritan Township twenty years.

Known for his famous Chicken Cacciatore, Mr. Mannino owned and operated the Village Restaurant, Flemington, NJ and then owned and operated Avanti Restaurant, Flemington, NJ (now Max's Bistro, Flemington, NJ).

A former member of the Italian Army, he was a Communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

His wife, Josephine Abbate Mannino, died in 1993 and a son, Anthony Mannino, died in 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Stella Maltese of Raritan Township, NJ and Connie Soriero of Raritan Township, NJ; three sons, Norman Mannino of Raritan Township, NJ, Fred Mannino of East Amwell Township, NJ and Salvatore Mannino of Delaware Township, NJ; three brothers, Fred Mannino of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Frank Mannino of Ringoes, NJ and Anthony Mannino of Delray Beach, FL; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
