Mrs. Christine Martin Hayes, age 89, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Tylertown, Mississippi on January 21, 1930 a daughter of the late Rodney Martin and the late Dollie Johnson Martin. Mrs. Hayes had been a resident of Rockmart since 1947. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart and the Ruth Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hayes worked as a substitute teacher in the Polk School District for twenty three years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lee Hayes, Sr. on July 26, 2002; by a daughter, Donna Lynn Hayes on February 16, 1969; by four sisters: Viola Boyd, Nora Holmes, Gladys Pittman and Nell Craft; and by two brothers: Hubert and Nolan Martin.
Survivors include two sons; grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with the Rev. Dr. Larry Davis and her Pastor Rev. David Warriner officiating. A eulogy will be given by Kitty Hardin. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will include: Jeremy Hayes, Justin Hayes, Brett Hayes, Corey Hardin, Sean Sweeney and Ryan Burk.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
