Howard Clifton Hughes, 75, of 2608 W. Kansas died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, at Methodist Medical Center.
Born May 14, 1921, in Kilbourne to Efner and Cordelia Ketcham Hughes, he married Karolina Mertl on July 2, 1955, in Heidelburg, Germany. She survives.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
He served in the Army for 22 years, retiring in 1968. He then worked for the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research in Peoria for 12 years, retiring in 1983.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
