Elisha Nims served as a Revolutionary soldier, responding to the alarm at Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775 and served through the Battle of Bunker Hill. His service was for three months and five days. [5] In January 1781, Elisha Nims voted for a petition to the General Court of Massachusetts which requested that the colonies try to reconcile with Great Britain.[6]
In religious affairs, Elisha Nims used pew 25 in the meetinghouse. But he was opposed to a move to set off the southern part of Deerfield as a separate town. That move resulted from a conflict over the minister. [7]
In April 1809, just before his death, Elisha sold his land in Deerfield to his son, Rufus, for $3,300.[8]
