Jim, beloved husband of Mary Osiowy (nee Haughian) of Calgary, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the age of 81 years.
Jim was born in Lemberg, SK. He worked in Regina until 1960 when he was transferred to Calgary by his employer British American Oil, later to become known as Gulf Canada. After he left Gulf Oil in 1972 he worked for several other companies including Union Oil/Husky Oil. Jim loved gardening, family get-togethers, crossword puzzles, dressing up as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, experimenting with homemade sausage and having lengthy conversations with a long time friend trying to solve all the worldly problems that exist today. He also enjoyed following the ups and downs of his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughter Linda (David), son Michael (Cindy), son Ronald (Teresa), grandchildren Shayla, Carly, Taylor, Erin, Peter and Alberto. Jim is also survived by his brother George (Olive), sister Frances Derkitt, sister-in-law Dickie Osiowy along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents Karl and Annie Osiowy, brothers Joseph, John, Edward and Thomas, and sisters Pauline and Anne.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor's choice. The Osiowy family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Santauri Hospice at the Peter Lougheed Hospital as well as the homecare caregivers for their continued care and kindness provided to Jim.
