It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Osiowy after a long and courageous battle with cancer. George attended school in Lemberg and went on to work for SaskTel for 35 years. Although his base was Regina, he travelled much of Saskatchewan helping to install telephone lines by hand, later as digger operator and 10 years as Land Negotiator when underground cable was being installed. He met his wife Olive (nee Playfair) while working in Cupar, they were married in 1958 and resided there until 2007 when they moved to Regina. George retired in 1983 and spent his time beautifying his yard and garden ñ never a blade of grass or weed to be found in his garden. He is survived by his loving wife Olive, daughter Leslie (John) of Kelowna, BC, and their children Sean (Amy), Maureen, Kevan and Shannon, Great grandchildren Siobhan, Jack and Jane. A sister Frances Derkitt, Calgary AB., sisters in law Dickie of Regina, Mary of Calgary, Lucienne of Saskatoon, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Karl and Annie, brothers John (Kathleen), Joe (Bunny), Edward, James and Tom; sisters Pauline (Stu), Anne (Mickey). A special thanks to Dr. Amjed, Dr. Rayson, Dr. Moola and the staff of the Palliative Care Ward, Pasqual Hospital and the Palliative care nurses who visited George each week for their compassionate care during the past year. A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina SK on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 am. with Rev. Sathiadas Anthony officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic or a charity of your choice.
