BELFRY, Ky. — Octavia Thacker, 83, of Belfry, died Thursday in the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born June 15, 1901 at Canada, she was the daughter of William Patrick and Victoria (Street) Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane Deiranieh of San Jose, Calif., Lois Reed and Gail Thacker, both of Belfry; two sons, Gene Paul Thacker of Raeford, N.C. and Gregory Thacker of Killen, Ala.; a brother, John Joseph Smith of Canada; eight sisters, Grace Smith, Gertrude Thacker and Flossie Blackburn, all of Canada, Hazel Edmonds, Mary Alice Thornsbury and Maxie Laferty, all of Sidney, Tina Carpenter of London and Ethel Layne of Betsy Layne; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by the Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry where friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday.

BELFRY, Ky. — Funeral services for Octavia Thacker of Belfry will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Rogers Funeral Home chapel in Belfry with Harles Ray officiating.
Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery at Sidney. Pallbearers will be Steve and Joey Bishop, Tony, Tim, Eddie and Ron Thacker.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry where friends may call after 6 p.m. today.
