Hazel Edmonds

Hazel Edmonds, 91, of Sidney, KY passed away on October 23, 2007 in Dover, OH at the home of her daughter. She was born September 5, 1916 at Canada, KY. She was the daughter of the late Patterson "Pat" and Victoria (Street) Smith. On October 12, 1935 she marred Harold Edmonds, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1990.
She was also preceded in death by seven sisters: Octavia Thacker, Gertrude Thacker, Ethel Layne, Maxie Laferty, Grace Smith, Mary Thornbury and Tina Carpenter.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Gale Warinner and son-in-law, Edgar Paul Warinner of Dover, OH. She had made her home with them for the past six years. Other survivors are her four grandchildren and their spouses and five great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Grandchildren are: Paula (Donavan) Hochstetler, Rexburg, ID; Ed (Mary Beth) Warinner and children; Madisyn, Merideth and Edward of Lawrence, KS; John (Patina) Warinner and children, Sydney and Jake of Columbus, OH and Michael (Yvette) Warinner of Westlake, OH. She is also survived by one sister, Flossie Blackburn and one brother, John (Phyllis) Smith of Canada, KY, a brother-in-law, Stewart Laferty of Sidney, KY and brother-in-law, Fred (Helen) Edmonds of Lexington, KY. Several nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
Hazel was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Old Regular Baptist Church of Sidney, KY where she has been a member for sixty nine years. She loved her church and all of it's members. She also loved making chicken and dumplings and stack cakes for the annual Association Meetings.
Mother's greatest joy, beside going to Church, was cooking for others. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking and sharing her food with neighbors and friends. She always thought of others and their needs before her own. She was an unique Mother and person. She was a cook for the Bevins School of Sidney, KY for several years. She was the happiest when she could do something for someone else.
Hazel has touched many lives and she had a great love for everyone. She loved working in her yard and garden and always had beautiful flowers in the yard and in the house. Thank you for your love, care and encouragement. For believing in our hopes and dreams and for your endless caring and prayers. She was a brightly burning candle, lit from within. She was beautiful inside and out. She was always a joy to be around. No matter how bad she would feel it was always, okay, honey or yes, honey. A loved one forms has gone, a voice we love is stilled, a place is vacant in our home, which never will be filled. Mother will be sadly missed by her family and friends. We loved you so much.
